Behind
Greenland, the new Guinea and Bornéo, Madagascar
is the fourth island of the world. Situated in the west
South of the Indian ocean, she covers a surface of 587000
km² as vast as varied. Spreading on 1500 km of
the Amber Cape (north) to Sainte - Marie Cape (south),
reaches a width of 600 km between Mahavelona (east)
and Tambohorao (west) and have 5000 km of coasts. By
her geographical situation, between the tropic of the
Capricorn and the equator, Madagascar is situated in
an intertropical zone.
|
|
Otherwise,
Madagascar knows different types of climate, either the tropical
humid on the East coast and on Sambirano, brought by the trade
winds, the tropical at dry season on the west, the tropical
dry on the Southwest with rare and irregular rains, and the
tropical of altitude on the high lands.
The
Malagasy population.
|

|
The
origins of the Malagasy population remain actually again
enough mysterious. The archaeological excavations proved
the prehistoric animal existence for a long time in
Madagascar. The island sheltered enormous dinosaurs,
gigantic lemurs, dwarf hippos and the famous aepyornis,
gigantic ostrich of three meter high. On the other hand,
she was virgin of all prehistoric human presence, since
on this day, no previous site of the 8th century has
not been put up to date. The theories on the Malagasy
population remain prudent therefore, even though one
is convinced, today, that it was the last big Earth
to know the man's presence.
|
If
the theories diverge again when it is about
establishing the chronology of the origins and the consistent
path, the historians agree to say that two main migratory
fluxes populated Madagascar, one coming from the Asian Southeast,
the other of the oriental Africa.
If the first immigrants were maybe populations come from Indonesia,
some successive waves of immigration of Polynesia, of Semitic,
of African, of European, of Indian, of Pakistani and Chinese
shaped this so particular people.
You will be surprised by the welcome that will reserve you
the Malagasy in general. Smile and obligingness, in a life
of " Mora Mora ", that doesn't know stress of the
on - developed country pressure.
