ENTOMOLOGICAL TRIP

 The insularity of Madagascar let it achieve a high degree of endemism and develop a unique flora and fauna. There is about 100 000 invertebrates species: Lepidoptereous, Coleptereous and Hymoneptereous are more that   3 000 different species of butterflies can be found all over the country.

The recommended areas for prospect ion and collect are located in the rain forest of the East or the dry forest of the West. The best season is during slash and burn (tavy) time i.e. from September to November  

- MAROZEVO DOMAIN famous for insects, batrachians and reptiles
- Eastern rain forest, specially around the so called DEATH FALLS on the way to LAKATO
- Animal reserve of PERINET, MANTADIA reserve (not far from hotel). Unfortunately, hunting and collecting insects are not allowed
- The tapia forest of ANJOMA ANKONA, kingdom of LANDIBE (Borocera) used for weaving silk ware.
- The famous ALLEES des BAOBABS, to be seen at sunset
- BEROBOKA forest with endemic butterflies: ROTHIA and EUXANTHES
