BIRDWATCHING
Due to its isolation, Madagascar is an almost living museum for rare and endemic birds. Each biotops and ecosystems has its own bird population. 230 differents species have been recorded and it is more less to comparate than African birds. But more than half are endemics and found no where else. The most famous are generally the VANGAS, COUAS, ASITY, GROUND ROLLER families. The following ecosystems are concerned.
- The high land lake of ALAROBIA for water birds ;
- The humid east forest of ANDASIBE and MANTADIA (Couas, Vangas, Ground Rollers species) ;
- The gallery southern forest of BERENTY (Vanga, Couas, Gucal, Flycatcher and Parrot) ;
- The spiny forest in IFATY (Ground Roller, Mesite, Hawks) ;
- The western marshes of BONAMARY on BETSIBOKA river (Swift, Herons, Plovers and ducks) ;
- The western decidious forest of AMPIJOROA (Fish eagle, Vanga, Asity, Hawks).
